Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we continue to progress through the school year, I am thrilled to share some wonderful developments and express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible collaboration and support within our community.
Firstly, I want to highlight the inspiring collaboration between our upper-year students and the younger classes. During various classroom activities, it has been wonderful to see older students working alongside their younger peers. These interactions foster a sense of community and mutual respect, with older students offering guidance and support during class. This collaboration enhances the learning experience for both age groups and strengthens the bonds within our school community.
I am also delighted to announce that our students have begun participating in excursions. These hands-on experiences are invaluable, offering our students the opportunity to engage with the world beyond the classroom. The joy and excitement on their faces as they explore new environments is a testament to the power of experiential learning.
Our school has been buzzing with laughter and positivity, a reflection of the vibrant and dynamic community we have fostered. This positive atmosphere is a result of the wonderful events we have held this term, such as the Qurban Campaign, the Winter Warmers charity drive, the Parents Welcome BBQ, and the Movie Night. Each of these events has contributed to a sense of unity and joy, bringing our community together in meaningful ways.
I would like to express my sincerest thanks to our amazing parents for their outstanding support during the Qurban Festival. After a month of fundraising for the 2024 Qurban Campaign, your generosity has been incredibly touching. Your contributions have made a significant difference, enabling us to reach out and help those in need. It fills us with pride to be part of a community that unites with such kindness and compassion. Your donations truly embody the spirit of Qurban, and we are profoundly grateful for your support.
Thank you to all our teachers, students, and parents for your continuous support and enthusiasm. Here’s to a fantastic term filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments for all!
Warmest regards,

Understanding STEM: What It Is and Why It's Important for Your Child
In today's rapidly evolving world, education is more crucial than ever in preparing our children for future success. One of the most significant areas of focus in education is STEM. You may have heard this term frequently, but what exactly does it mean, and why is it so important? Let’s dive into the basics of STEM education and its benefits.
What is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where academic concepts are coupled with real-world lessons. Students apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in contexts that make connections between school, community, work, and the global enterprise. This type of education fosters problem-solving, critical thinking, and innovation.
The Components of STEM:
Science: Encourages exploration of the natural world, fostering curiosity and an understanding of how things work.
Technology: Involves the use of tools, including computers and software, to solve problems and create new products.
Engineering: Focuses on designing and building structures, machines, and processes, encouraging creativity and practical application of knowledge.
Mathematics: Provides the foundation for analysing information, identifying patterns, and solving complex problems.
Why is STEM Important?
Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: STEM education emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students learn to approach challenges logically and creatively, which are essential skills in any career and in daily life.
Innovation and Creativity: By engaging in STEM activities, students learn to think outside the box and innovate. They become adept at creating solutions to real-world problems, driving technological advancements and improvements.
Preparation for the Future:
The job market is increasingly driven by STEM fields. Careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are growing at a faster rate than non-STEM occupations. Providing a strong foundation in these areas prepares students for a wide range of future careers.
Interdisciplinary Learning: STEM education integrates multiple disciplines, making learning more cohesive and applicable to real life. This interdisciplinary approach helps students see the connections between different subjects and understand the relevance of their education.
Economic Impact: A strong STEM education system is crucial for economic growth. It produces a workforce capable of meeting the demands of modern industries and contributes to the country’s global competitiveness.
How Can Parents Support STEM Learning?
Encourage Curiosity: Foster your child's natural curiosity by encouraging questions and exploration. Provide opportunities for them to discover and learn about the world around them.
Engage in STEM Activities: Involve your child in activities that promote STEM skills. This could be as simple as cooking together (measuring ingredients), building models, or using educational apps and games.
Promote Hands-On Learning: Support projects and experiments that allow your child to apply their knowledge in practical ways. Hands-on learning is crucial for understanding STEM concepts.
Provide Resources: Utilise books, websites, and local museums or science centres to expose your child to STEM concepts and careers.
Together, we can inspire the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders.

The Importance of a Good Routine at Home
As we navigate through another exciting school year, we want to emphasise the importance of establishing and maintaining a good routine at home. A well-structured daily routine is crucial for your child's success and well-being. Here are some key areas to focus on:
Homework Time
Creating a consistent homework schedule helps children develop good study habits. Set aside a specific time and quiet space for homework each day. This routine reduces procrastination and ensures that your child keeps up with their assignments. Encourage breaks during longer study sessions to maintain focus and productivity.
Sleep Schedule
Adequate sleep is essential for your child's growth, learning, and overall health. Set a regular bedtime that allows for the recommended amount of sleep for their age group. A bedtime routine, such as reading a book or having a warm bath, can help your child wind down and prepare for sleep. Consistency in sleep patterns helps children wake up refreshed and ready for the day ahead.
Playtime
Play is a vital part of your child's development. It promotes creativity, social skills, and physical health. Ensure your child has time each day for unstructured play, whether it's outdoor activities, playing with friends, or engaging in hobbies. Balance screen time with other activities to encourage a well-rounded playtime experience.
Family Time
Spending quality time together as a family strengthens bonds and provides emotional support. Plan regular family activities such as dinners, game nights, or weekend outings. This time together offers opportunities to communicate, share experiences, and build lasting memories.
Balance and Flexibility
While routines are important, it's also essential to maintain flexibility. Life can be unpredictable and being able to adapt your routine when necessary is a valuable skill for your child to learn. Encourage open communication about any changes to the routine and involve your child in the process when appropriate.
Benefits of a Good Routine
Improved Academic Performance: Consistent study and sleep schedules enhance concentration and learning.
Better Behaviour: Children with regular routines are often more cooperative and less stressed.
Healthy Habits: Routine activities like meals, exercise, and hygiene promote a healthy lifestyle.
Emotional Stability: Knowing what to expect each day provides a sense of security and reduces anxiety.
We understand that every family is unique, and routines may vary. The goal is to find a structure that works for your family and supports your child's needs.
By prioritising a good routine at home, you are setting your child up for success both in and out of the classroom.

KA and Year 3 Buddy Reading and Writing Fun!
Our KA and Year 3 students have been absolutely loving their reading and writing adventures together! The Year 3 buddies have been superstars, helping their Kindy friends discover the joy of reading by sharing their favourite stories and exploring new books together. They have also teamed up for writing projects, like creating information reports where they have researched interesting topics and shared what they have learned with each other.
The enthusiasm from both grades has been infectious. Kindy students eagerly listen as their Year 3 buddies read aloud, while Year 3 students take pride in guiding their younger friends through the world of words. During writing sessions, laughter and creativity fill the air as they brainstorm ideas and bring their imaginations to life on paper.
It's heart-warming to see how these activities are not only boosting their literacy skills but also building strong bonds of friendship across our school community.

KB`s Exciting Discovery!
We are delighted to share some wonderful news! This week, KB had the fantastic opportunity to learn all about 3A's new class pet – stick insects! Under the guidance of their teacher, Miss A, the students of 3A were thrilled to introduce KB to their fascinating insect friends.
During their special lesson, KB discovered where stick insects live and what they eat, gaining valuable insights into these remarkable creatures. As an extra special treat, KB even had the chance to hold the insects themselves, further deepening their understanding and sparking their curiosity about the natural world around them.
We are incredibly fortunate to have such engaging learning experiences at our school, and we look forward to more exciting discoveries with our class pets in the future. Thank you, Miss A and 3A, for sharing this enriching experience with KB!

Class 1A News!
This term has been eventful for Class 1A! We celebrated many wonderful occasions, starting with a successful bake sale where students showcased their baking skills and teamwork. Our Qurban Festival was a joyous event, bringing the community together and teaching the children about cultural traditions.
A major highlight was our first excursion to Rouse Hill Estate. The students were excited to learn about school life from the past, comparing it to their current experiences. They were fascinated by the old-fashioned classrooms and teaching methods, which enhanced their appreciation for modern education.
We are proud of our students' enthusiasm and participation in all activities. Stay tuned for more exciting updates next term!

Fun News From 2A!
As we wrap up Term 2, I wanted to take a moment to share with you all the exciting activities and learning experiences our Year 2 students have been immersed in over the past few weeks.
Firstly, our class dove into the world of group work and research projects. It's been wonderful to see how well the children have collaborated, sharing ideas and working together to explore different topics. They've not only developed their teamwork skills but also enhanced their understanding of how to gather information and present it in a meaningful way.
One of the highlights of this term was our recent excursion to the botanical gardens. The students had a fantastic time exploring the diverse plant life and learning about the unique features of different habitats. This hands-on experience truly brought their science lessons to life and sparked a curiosity about the natural world that we will continue to nurture throughout the year.
In literacy, the focus has been on enhancing reading skills through partner reading activities. By reading with their peers, the children have not only improved their fluency and comprehension but have also grown more confident in discussing texts and sharing their thoughts with others.
As we look forward to Term 3, I'm excited to build upon the enthusiasm and knowledge our students have gained. Thank you for your continued support in making these learning experiences possible.

3A Encounters Some Awesome Adventures!
Wow! Before you know it, we are already halfway through our year. What an adventure it has been, this term! 3A started this term off so strong and kept up the same positive attitude throughout the remainder of the term.
The last few weeks have been so full of fun, with so many exciting events for the Qurban festival. We also participated in so many exciting learning experiences such as an anti-bullying workshop, countless research projects on different creatures, landmarks and cities and our all-time favourite of this term, the Botanical Gardens of Sydney excursion.
Our learning this term in English, Science and HSIE have been interlinked, focusing on living things, researching skills and looking at places and spaces that living things survive and thrive in. The student-centred learning experiences have provided 3A with a bank of knowledge when it comes to living things and we cannot wait to keep utilising this information to further our understanding of how living things thrive.
We are so excited to see what the next half of the year will bring and cannot wait to keep learning and growing together!
