Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we complete our first four weeks on the new campus, I am pleased to report that our students and teachers are embracing every opportunity for growth and exploration in their new environment.
Now is the time to refine our procedures and implement new, visionary activities for our students, utilizing our resources to their fullest potential.
In this issue, you'll find updates from our dedicated teachers, highlighting our exciting gymnastics sessions, engaging science lessons, and various past activities at school. Your feedback throughout this journey will be invaluable in helping us create lasting memories for both parents and students over the years.
Additionally, we were excited to host a welcome BBQ for parents last Sunday. It was great seeing all who have attended and sharing this special occasion with you.
Thank you to all our teachers, students, and parents for your continuous support and enthusiasm. Here's to a fantastic term filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments for all!

How to Help Your Child with Mathematics at Home
As we navigate through our child’s education, we might find it challenging to assist them with their Math homework. But fear not! There are numerous ways to make learning math an engaging and enjoyable experience for both you and your child right in the comfort of your own home.
Real-World Math: Mathematics is all around us, from cooking in the kitchen to measuring ingredients, to calculating the time it takes to get to school or estimating how much paint is needed for a room. Encourage your child to spot and engage with math in their everyday life. This not only makes Math more relatable but also shows its practical applications.
Games and Puzzles: Incorporate fun math games and puzzles into your family time. Board games like Monopoly or card games like Uno involve counting, strategy, and basic arithmetic. Puzzle games such as Sudoku or Tangrams help develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These activities make learning math feel like playtime.
Timetables: Best way to teach your child times tables is practice daily. Play games that involve timetables. Rote learning is often the best method.
Be Patient and Supportive: Remember that every child learns at their own pace. Be patient and supportive, and don't be afraid to seek help if needed. Reach out to your child's teacher for guidance on how to support their Math learning at home.
By incorporating these strategies into your daily routine, you can help your child develop a strong foundation in mathematics and foster a lifelong love for learning. Together, we can turn our homes into vibrant learning environments where math becomes not just a subject to study but a source of curiosity and wonder.

The Power of Sleep: Boosting Learning Outcomes for Our Children
We all want our children to excel academically and enjoy their learning experiences. However, one critical element that is often overlooked is the importance of sleep. Research consistently shows that adequate sleep is a fundamental component of children’s overall well-being and academic success. In this edition of our newsletter, we’ll explore why sleep is essential for learning and how you can help ensure your child gets the rest they need.
Why Sleep Matters for Learning
Cognitive Function and Memory: Sleep plays a crucial role in consolidating memories and making learning stick. During sleep, the brain processes information from the day, helping children retain what they’ve learned and apply it in the future.
Attention and Focus: Well-rested children can concentrate better and are less likely to be distracted in class. This increased attention span directly impacts their ability to understand and absorb new material.
Problem-Solving Skills: Sleep enhances creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. Children who get enough rest are better equipped to tackle challenging tasks and think critically.
Emotional Regulation: Lack of sleep can lead to irritability and mood swings, which can negatively affect classroom behaviour and social interactions. A good night's sleep helps children manage their emotions and engage positively with peers and teachers.
Physical Health: Sleep is vital for physical growth and immune function. Healthy children are more likely to attend school regularly and participate actively in physical and academic activities.
Recommended Sleep Guidelines
The National Sleep Foundation provides the following guidelines for sleep duration based on age:
Ages 3-5 (Pre-schoolers): 10-13 hours per night
Ages 6-13 (School-aged children): 9-11 hours per night
Ensuring your child gets the recommended amount of sleep can significantly enhance their learning and overall well-being.
Tips for Better Sleep
Here are some tips to help establish healthy sleep habits:
Consistent Bedtime Routine: Create a calming pre-sleep routine. This could include activities like reading a book, taking a warm bath, or listening to soothing music.
Regular Sleep Schedule: Try to maintain a consistent bedtime and wake-up time, even on weekends.
Sleep-Friendly Environment: Ensure the bedroom is cool, quiet, and dark. Limit exposure to screens at least an hour before bedtime, as the blue light can interfere with sleep.
Balanced Diet and Exercise: Encourage a healthy diet and regular physical activity but avoid vigorous exercise and large meals close to bedtime.
Involving Your Child
Engage your child in conversations about the importance of sleep and involve them in creating a bedtime routine. When children understand why sleep is important, they are more likely to embrace healthy habits.
Investing in your child’s sleep is investing in their academic success and overall health. As we support our children in their educational journey, let’s not forget the simple yet powerful impact of a good night’s sleep. Together, we can help our children achieve their full potential by ensuring they get the rest they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

We did a variety of activities such as writing about our nationalities and sharing with our peers, creating Harmony Day artworks and working collaboratively with other classes in group work activities to promote unity and multiculturalism.
We look forward to the many Harmony Days that will be celebrated at our Leppington Campus!
